My boys love these smoothies! After the park or a walk, I can tell they want some instant fuel like quick Cheez-Its or Goldfish, I try to lean towards these smoothies to satisfy their sweet tooth and replenish vitamins. They think of it as a sweet treat!

What we use

1 cup of frozen strawberries

1 cup of frozen bananas

1 cup of almond milk

1 tablespoon of pure maple Syrup

I have them pour the ingredients into the blender and roughly explain the vitamins and minerals in the fruit and how they help our bodies. I believe teaching young children to know the benefits of the food they eat promotes healthy eating habits throughout their life. My boys are 3 and 5 so I encourage them to learn about the food they are eating and answer any questions they have but I don't force it. I try to keep it light and fun.

Here are some good-to-know health benefits that strawberries and bananas contain,

-Strawberries contain vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants.

-Bananas contain vitamin B6, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants.

-Vitamin C is important to repair and grow your body tissues and boost your immune system.

-Vitamin B6 reduces inflammation and promotes mood regulation.

-Antioxidants help your body regulate free radicals and promote collagen and youthfulness. -Potassium helps regulate nerves, muscle contractions and blood pressure.

Mention some of these facts to your little ones and see their responses!
